Who is eligible for a restitution check?

More than 15,000 eligible Arizonans, who between September 2012 and November 2015, initially purchased a Honda or Acura vehicle in Arizona with the Takata airbag subject to the recall, will receive a $100 check in restitution.

Who is eligible for a gift card?

$150 gift cards will be mailed to individuals who have vehicles with Alpha inflators.

$50 gift cards will be mailed to individuals who have vehicles with non-Alpha inflators.

How does the gift card incentive work?

Cash-equivalent gift cards will be mailed to approximately 40,000 Arizona consumers who still have a defective airbag in their vehicle. The gift cards will only be activated after the consumer takes their vehicle to a Honda dealership for the free airbag replacement.

When will I get a letter?

Letters from the Office of the Attorney General are slated to go out in mid-December. But if you have a defective airbag, DO NOT WAIT. Go to a Honda dealership now to get your airbag replaced for free, keep your repair documents, and you will still be eligible to redeem your gift card incentive.

How will I know the letter I receive is legitimate?

Letters will look like this:

Are motorcycles included?

Yes, there are some Honda motorcycles included in the recall settlement. Check the status of yours.

What happens if I don’t get my airbags replaced?

Defective Takata airbags are extremely dangerous, having caused over 200 injuries and at least 15 deaths in the U.S.-- including two fatalities in Arizona. This is a matter of life and death. Delaying or not getting these airbags replaced means putting your safety and the safety of your passengers at risk.

Can I still file my own lawsuit against Honda?

Yes, the settlement does not prohibit individual consumers from taking further legal action against American Honda Motor Company, Inc., and Honda of America Mfg., Inc. (Honda). Read our full settlement:
