Position Summary: 

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office State Government Division/Employment Law Section (ELS) is seeking a Legal Secretary to assist attorneys of the Section, primarily in the area of Workers’ Compensation matters.  ELS defends the State and Risk Management in contested workers compensation cases. 

Position responsibilities include preparation of pleadings, motions, petitions, appellate briefs and a wide variety of legal documents and legal correspondence; filing legal documents with the Industrial Commission and in courts; accurate and timely maintenance of legal records, physical files and the case management system; docketing and calendaring of critical court dates, appropriate administrative support; appropriate handling of a wide variety of phone calls, correspondence and visitors.  In addition to representing State Risk Management in contested workers compensation cases, the Employment Law Section provides employment law advice to state agencies, represents the State in employee appeals from personnel actions, and defends the State, its agencies and employees in employment lawsuits brought by current, former or prospective employees.
