AG Brnovich Encourages Arizonans to Participate in National Prescription Take Back Day

PHOENIX -- Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is teaming up with local law enforcement agencies to help provide a safe and secure place to dispose of unused and expired medications for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) 16th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

This Saturday, October 27, 2018, members of the public can drop off unused and unwanted medication to more than 85 locations across Arizona. According to the DEA, over the last seven years, the national initiative has resulted in the collection and disposal of more than 4,982 tons of pharmaceuticals across the country.

“A lot of teens gain access to dangerous opioids from the medicine cabinets of friends, family, and grandparents,” said Attorney General Mark Brnovich. "Getting rid of old prescription drugs is key in protecting our youth and combating this epidemic.”

More than 55 agencies in Arizona are participating in this initiative. The DEA has a comprehensive list of the Arizona locations online at
