Fake Doctor Pleads Guilty to Fraud Schemes and Illegal Control of an Enterprise

PHOENIX - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Craig Allen Scherf pleaded guilty to Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices and Illegal Control of an Enterprise after operating an illegal botox and laser clinic in Tempe.

Between January 2015 and January 2017, Scherf misrepresented to 13 victims that he was a doctor licensed to perform cosmetic injections and laser treatments. Scherf was able to purchase the drugs Juvederm and Botox from the manufacturer by illegally using the identity of a licensed physician.

Fake Doctor Sentenced to 38.25 Years in Prison after Botched Cosmetic Surgeries

TUCSON - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Gustavo Nunez was sentenced to 38.25 years in prison for performing illegal cosmetic surgeries. In April 2017, Nunez pleaded guilty to 28 felony charges after performing illegal liposuction procedures. Seven victims had procedures performed by Nunez in Tucson between 2012 and 2014. Three victims had to be hospitalized after botched surgeries and one sustained life-threatening injuries.

AG Brnovich to Lead CWAG Executive Committee

PHOENIX - Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich was selected as the new Chairman of the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) during the annual Summer Meeting held in San Francisco. One of Brnovich’s top priorities as CWAG Chair will be data privacy and cybersecurity initiatives.
